Orewa Chiropractic FAQ's
The best chiropractors own spine care expertise, including diagnosis skills and treating disorders of the muscul0-skeletal system, especially the spine. They graduated from the most renowned international colleges and have vast clinical experience. After five years of tertiary studies, they are licensed and registered health professionals to practice. At Orewa Chiropractic, we have vast knowledge to treat all sorts of conditions that hinder your daily life.
Sports chiropractors have advanced training in biomechanics and sports performance. They have developed broad experience and expertise in musculo-skeletal injuries. To treat them, sports chiropractors use different types of mobilisations, spinal adjustments and soft tissue techniques. Finally, they also prescribe exercises for rehabilitation.
During the pandemic, the Ministry of Health HAS considered chiropractic care an essential service for the population.
The New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association is the body representing the chiropractic profession. They guarantee the competency of their members.
Orewa Chiropractors practice in OREWA, the original vibrant town of the Hibiscus Coast and Rodney district. We receive loyal patients from Silverdale and Whangaparaoa, but also Warkworth, Helensville and North Shore.
Not all chiropractors in New Zealand are ACC registered. However, the chiropractors at Orewa Chiropractic are. Thanks to our advanced electronic system, you don’t need any referral or fill out a form as they lodge new claims directly to ACC. It generally takes a few minutes to receive the ACC's agreement electronically.
At Orewa Chiropractic, we treat musculoskeletal dysfunctions from head to toe. We are an integrated healthcare centre that combines the best examinations and treatment techniques. Our personalised treatment combinations of advanced adjusting, soft tissue techniques, rehabilitative exercises, and patient education will be the fastest, most cost-effective way to get back to optimum performance in your daily life activities.
Although every treatment may have some risk, even paracetamol or aspirin, our treatment is remarkably safe. The Commission of Inquiry into Chiropractic in New Zealand advocated that chiropractors in this country are generally careful and skilled. Their finding was that there is no unusual degree of risk to patients who undertake chiropractic treatment from a registered chiropractor in New Zealand.
Most of the time, an adjustment is very comfortable, and if slight discomfort occurs, this should last for no more than 24h. Adjustments correct joint dysfunctions of the spine, a condition in which a joint loses its proper movement. However, at Orewa Chiropractic, we use other highly effective methods in case of contraindications, or if that's your preference.
It will help if you plan on arriving 10 minutes before your appointment time to fill out and prepare your new patient paperwork. When you get into the treatment room, your chiropractor will perform a comprehensive examination and take a detailed history of your current complaint. The test may include a spinal or regional exam, orthopaedic and neurological testing, and functional screening. Our chiropractors are qualified to order X-Rays, although most often, these are not necessary. Then, your chiropractor will discuss their findings and your diagnosis and, if your case is accepted, will discuss the recommended treatment.
This is a very commonly asked question. Unfortunately, there is no one simple answer to this. First, because the amount of time needed for recovery is variable, not only for each condition but also for each patient. Generally speaking, conditions that have been present for a more extended time will logically require a somewhat longer recovery time. However, there are always exceptions. Our approach is such that the immediate goals are to help you get relief from pain and disability as quickly as possible. After addressing the underlying dysfunctions that caused the pain, we will teach you strategies to manage and reduce any future episodes that may occur. Your doctor of chiropractic will explain to you the extent of treatment recommended and how long you can expect it to last. In this way, we attempt to help you expeditiously reduce pain and return to enjoying what you love doing.

It will depend on the goals to reach. A simple relief of symptoms takes a few sessions, usually. However, with regular and periodic treatment, we may recommend you exercise to correct the cause of the underlying problem and enjoy a better quality of life. To prevent re-occurrences of back pain, we also prescribe some exercises. Chiropractors at the Orewa Chiropractic emphasise teaching patients self-care strategies to manage conditions themselves.
Besides all of the benefits of regular aerobic and strengthening exercise, your chiropractor may prescribe other activities. They help keep joints moving correctly or improve muscles' ability to stabilize the back or neck and prevent re-occurring pain. For many of these, we recommend that you continue long-term for most of them, while we prescribe others only temporarily during the pain period. In other words, specific exercises will help you heal faster. Others will prevent the pain from coming back and make you feel more fit and flexible from day to day.
While spinal and other musculoskeletal disorders are less common in children than in adults, they are not rare. There is no reason why children cannot be seen at Orewa Chiropractic. Obviously, we adapt our treatment using different techniques regarding the child's size.
Chiropractic care is the best option for getting safe, drug-free, conservative care for lower back and abdominal pain during pregnancy. Our chiropractors have done extensive research on the causes and management of pain related to pregnancy and own technical skills and knowledge in techniques in treating pregnant ladies.
